Kuala Besut penentu masa depan Najib?

Kuala Besut penentu masa depan Najib?

Cuma kelebihan undi bekas ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) BN, Allahyarham Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar, adalah besar. Dia memperoleh 8,809 undi manakala calon PAS, Napisah Ismail, mendapat 6,375, memberikan majoriti 2,434.

Apa Yang Tersirat Di Sebalik Kenyataan Khairy

Antaranya:

1. Banyak blogger Umno yang mementang Abdullah dan menuntut pengundurannya telah berubah menjadi pro-Najib;

2. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yang pada tahun 2009 menentang Abdullah habis-habisan dengan bantuan Muhyiddin Yassin kini berpendirian jawatan Presiden dan Timbalan Presiden tidak dipertandingkan;

3. Muhyiddin pula dikatakan "tidak berminat" mencabar Mohd Najib kerana “sudah penat” dan tidak mahu dilihat sebagai tidak setuju dengan semua PM;

4. Boleh jadi juga tindakan "menutup pintu" pertandingan itu terbit daripada kebimbangan akan muncul pencabar lain, misalnya Tengku Razaleigh. Walaupun Ku Li seangkatan dengan Dr Mahathir, beliau masih cergas dalam politik dan menjadi tempat banyak pihak meminta nasihat dan mengadu nasib;

5. Justeru itu, apa yang dua watak ini (Dr Mahathir dan Ku Li) kata di belakang tabir akan memberi kesan kepada kedudukan Mohd Najib. Cuma Dr Mahathir dan Ku Li mungkin tidak sekata untuk menyingkir Mohd Najib;

It's been 40 YEARS since Bruce Lee died...

It's been 40 YEARS since Bruce Lee died...

HONG KONG - Hailed as cinema's first martial arts hero and a cinematic bridge between the cultures of East and West, Bruce Lee helped put Hong Kong on the movie world map.
So why are some in the city marking the 40th anniversary of his death in a toilet?
"In 1958, Bruce Lee was a student at St Francis Xavier's [College]," Wong Yiu-keung, chairman of the Bruce Lee Club, explains.
"One day, he was caught in a fight in a washroom by one of the fathers.
"But the priest also boxed back in his home country. So, he didn't punish him. Instead, he invited him to the boxing classes. Lee later participated in an interschool competition and won."
The incident was significant in Lee, who died from swelling of the brain aged just 32, deciding to tunnel his love of martial arts into something positive.
A short time afterwards he opened a martial arts school in the United States, where he was born.
Fans of Lee will visit his Hong Kong alma mater this weekend as one of several stops on an unofficial "Bruce Lee trail" in the former British colony, where the star spent his childhood.
Other points on the walk include Lee's statue on the Avenue of the Stars and the Bruce Lee Club house, both in the Tsim Sha Tsui neighbourhood of the southern Chinese city, which is without a permanent museum dedicated to the screen legend.
Fans will also take in a monastery in the New Territories which featured in perhaps his most famous movie, "Enter the Dragon".
Chaos
A five-year exhibition at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, featuring memorabilia from his life and films including his iconic yellow jumpsuit, was due to be opened Saturday by his daughter Shannon Lee.
"The way I know my father is not through media. The way I know my father is in number of different ways," Lee, who was four when her father died, said Friday.
"It's through the people who knew him well, his friends, my family. It's also through his own words, because he wrote voluminously.
"I have all of his library books, thousands of books and he would underline in them and write notes in the margins, so I know him from him."
Some of those notebooks, poetry, and family photos are among 600 items showcased at the museum until 2018.
A 20th century cultural icon who founded Jeet Kune Do, Lee's untimely death in Hong Kong in 1973 left fans around the world reeling.
"I remember the funeral in Hong Kong primarily, because it was just so chaotic. There were so many people," his daughter said.
"It was hot, humid, and it was just sort of like this whirlwind. And there was so much going on and so much sadness and as a little kid, I just sort of remember being dragged through that whole process and the feeling of the chaos all around me."
Lee's legacy lived on, inspiring a new generation of actors such as Jackie Chan and breaking down barriers for Asian actors in Hollywood.
"He won his fame from Kung Fu, which does not need language to deliver," Lee's biographer Roger Lo said.
"Just like dance and music. You can watch it whoever you are. It is like Charlie Chaplin whose silent movies were borderless.
"Lee was also a bridge between the cultures of East and West. He was educated both in Hong Kong and the United States.
"He appeared on American televisions and also Chinese movie theatres," he added.
Chaplin Chang, the author of a new biography "The Bruce Lee They Knew" published this month, says that Lee's real life personality, not just screen persona, are part of his enduring appeal.
"People may give him god-like status. But he is just a human."
Chang, in the Chinese-language version of his biography, attempts to portray the action hero from an unconventional perspective, showing that the screen icon could be difficult at times but was generally friendly towards his subordinates.
"He was not only (about) movies, nor was he only (about) martial arts. With his philosophy, his legacy lives on for generations. Therefore, he is admired by many even now," Chang said. – AFP

Week in biz without the boring bits: 1st year triumph for Marissa Mayer

 Week in biz without the boring bits: 1st year triumph for Marissa Mayer
IT'S tough being a tech giant. Despite earning billion dollars in the second quarter, both Google and Microsoft have been slammed for making less than analysts expected.
Google was under fire for focusing on outlandish projects like internet balloons and driverless cars at the expense of their bread and butter search advertising, while Microsoft shares fell after an "embarrassing" $900 million write down on their Surface RT tablets.
"You're in the hardware business now, and pretty shortly after entering it you have a pretty big write down. That's embarrassing," said Nomura Securities analyst Rick Sherlund.
In contrast, earnings at Yahoo! climbed 46 per cent under the first year for CEO Marissa Mayer's although revenue was down seven per cent making the result mixed overall.
Cost of living was in the spotlight after McDonald's in the US provided friendly budget advice on how to live on the minimum wage. Turns out working 75 hours a week in two jobs with no allowance for food, clothing or heating is the secret. Wage advocates were not lovin' it.
On a positive note, Chris Reynolds became the world's first and only quadrillionaire, enjoying a 17 figure bank balance for a few hours before the PayPal error was discovered and he was asked to renew his credit card details.

Careerwise, we looked at what you should do to get noticed by powerful people. And if you are looking to spice up your work life, why not apply for a job as a "mediologist" or a "security princess?" We asked whether the trend towards quirky job titles is endearing or just plain ridiculous.
Another favourite this week was a story from Jeffrey Alphonse, who told us about a typical day working at Laloki Psychiatric Hospital in Papua New Guinea.
Back in Australia, business confidence fell amid fears of a slowdown in China; Melbourne workers braced for job cuts at Lonely Planet; while Woolworths revised their profit expectations up. Billabong shares also soared after chief Launa Inman said she would step down as part of a deal to refinance the company's debt.
The Aussie dollar stuck to its now familiar range of 91-92 US cents.
If you need a weekend project it might pay to dust off the old shoebox and sort our your receipts, especially if you're a tradie, hospitality worker or carpenter, who the taxman will crackdown on this year.
And it has little to do with business, but in case you missed it, there was also a streaker.

Don't play ROULETTE with our MPs - Guan Eng warns Najib

Don't play ROULETTE with our MPs - Guan Eng warns Najib
KUALA LUMPUR - Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng slammed Prime Minister Najib Razak's government for political double standards warning the federal government not to cross the line and go after lawmakers from the Opposition or risk the wrath of the people.
Guan Eng, the DAP secretary-general, took up the cudgels for his coalition mates slapped with summonses to present themselves to the Kuala Lumpur magistrate’s court on July 24, where they have been told they will be charged with contravening the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (PAA).
Two Pakatan leaders served the summonses are MP for Pandan Rafizi Ramli and MP for Seremban Anthony Loke Siew Fook, and Guan Eng expects more to follow.
According to the summons, they are to be charged under Section 15(3) of the PAA for allegedly organizing the June 22 Black 505 rally at Padang Merbok to protest the widespread electoral fraud manifested during the May 5 general election.
If convicted, both Loke and Rafizi can be fined up to RM10,000. They also risk being disqualified as MPs if fined more than RM2,000.
Ploy to 'decimate' the Opposition bench
Some have accused Najib's Umno party of instigating the prosecutions in a bid to retain the political upper hand in the country. Najib has claimmed a victory of 133 seats in Malaysia's 222-seat Parliament, but the talent is clearly slanted on the Opposition side of the House, with Rafizi and Anthony regarded as being among two of the most promising young leaders.
"When you go to court, you look at the legal aspect., you know you are looking at the spirit and object of the law. You are also like playing a game of roulette," Guan Eng had told reporters.
"I also have been charged before. I went to prison trying to defend an under-aged girl who had been raped. I lost my MP status and of course, the judge who convicted me is Mohd Noor, the same judge now subject to a sedition probe. So if you talk about the courts, it could be based on technical considerations but placing our MPs into this sort of situation is actually continued persecution. But when you are charging under the Peaceful Assembly Act and there is no violence, nothing, why are they charging under the PAA?
"And the whole issue is about elections. Up till now has the EC answered? The MP for Pandan has talked about the companies (which were granted indelible ink, caps and T-shirt contracts) but they do not want to answer. For those who supplied indelible ink and why was the ink not indelible and they themselves admit there was some problem, so when you are demanding answers, you yourself refuse to give answers. So why are you prosecuting MPs who are carrying out their duties to demand answers from the EC when they have abdicated their duty and responsibility. You say it is indelible, but when it is used, it is not indelible and you yourself admit there is a problem.
"Yang buat salah tak kena, yang meminta penjelasan kena - the same thing that I encountered 10 years ago. So this is the answer that we want and now when we demand the answer, we are charged. So we are saying this is a form of political persecution. Is that a form of national reconciliation, this is not national reconciliation."

Perodua kekal pengeluar kenderaan No. 1

Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn. Bhd.
